Starting in March 2019, ZGMissions launched a new workforce and transportation service - Gigshuttle! We are partnering with Amazon and other regional employers by hosting community hiring events that will be accessible to low income consumers who are unemployed or underemployed and have no access to reliable transportation. Jobs with a livable wage are harder to get to; employers struggle with finding workers for second/third shift jobs. Our community suffers, families aren't stable or have a path to self-sufficiency. To date, ZGMissions has hosted 5 hiring events attended by 150+ people. Thirty have succeeded in getting employment.
Through a partnership with Zion Global Ministries, we utilize church vehicles to provide daily shuttle service from Cincinnati neighborhoods to Amazon warehouse locations in Hebron KY. An added bonus is connecting each of the new workers with a mentor for up to 6 months. Also workers begin to contribute for their shuttle assistance after 3 months of continuous employment. Our goal is transportation independence after six months by starting a "transportation fund" that will allow the purchase or repair of a vehicle. Donation of a "gently used" vehicle is needed so that we can have capacity to meet the transport needs.
